A message for a teenage girl...........

This week we had a house guest. I love her very very much........which is lucky because shes a teenager. Ha ha ha.....

But seriously now, I have never met a 13year old that truly loves themselves and realises their self-worth. They all seem to be on a journey to somewhere, to do something that they dont even understand themselves.

I (vaguely!) remember being 13 and I mainly remember being a little confused and a bit needy but most of all craving an independence I wasnt ready for - but of course I didnt know that at the time.

If I could talk to my teenage self, I would make sure she understood that she really could do or be ANYTHING and to never limit herself within the expectations of others.

If I was more articulate, creative and insightful, I would write the following (but I'm not so I'll quote A. A. Milne)

Dear Tilly, my message for you is this.

As Christopher Robin says to Winnie the Pooh

"Promise me you'll always remember: You're braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think."

Love forever, Aunty K xo
