Brisbane...........Love

As many may know, I lived in Brisbane for many many years and I am lucky enough to get the chance to visit for work and for play often. On my last visit I had the pleasure of meeting this crazy, awesome, fun, lovable kid and catch up with his mumma, a friend of many many years.

Although it is true that it takes a village to raise a child (and this boy has an awesome village!), its also true that a really great mum with lots and lots of love is the best start you can get.........

Happy Tuesday everyone. xo

So so sorry.......

On May 26th I was asked to fill in for an amazing Canberra based Event Photographer (only because he was out of town...............lucky me!) at the National Sorry Day Committee Community Event. I was thrilled to take part and humbled by the stories of the Stolen Generation. I wish we would all shout our apologies from every roof top and I wish the offical apology had happened much much sooner.

Our indigenous culture is close to my heart. I have family who are indigenous and my amazing mother spent a lot of her scientific career in the pursuit of improved health outcomes for urban Aborigines.

Please go to http://www.nsdc.org.au/ for more information on events in your community.

A big shout out and thanks to fellow photog Luke Kneale (http://www.luke-k.com/)

I wondering what she's whispering?.........

2 and 3 year olds can be challenging in a photo shoot - free will reigns supreme! That being said, they are my favourite 'models'. You cant force anything out of them, nor would you want to. They'll smile or laugh if they want to, or not!

Its always fun, a bit of exercise and a lesson in going with the flow. This particular toddler and her new little brother are totally, utterly adorable so I have to share...................Happy weekend all. xoxoxoxo

Beautiful Autumn in Canberra

I have had a very busy rollercoaster few months and its about time my poor neglected blog got some attention :)

I love Autumn in Canberra. It has always been my favourite time of the year but the gorgeous colours and the atmosphere of the town at this time of the year feels a little magical to me.

I was lucky enough to photograph this lovely family for the second time last week. You may recognise this gorgeous boy from my blog last year but their beautiful girl was just a sleepy bubba in pink back then. Heres a few images from last weekends morning session at Lennox Gardens.

Happy Weekend friends ......K x

Perhaps I need more beads?

When I have a lovely family portrait session booked in the woods somewhere and it rains that morning, my heart sinks just a little. Sometimes it’s awesome and there's a lot of splashing and playing and mud - kids paradise - but mostly its just wet. That didn’t stop these gorgeous kiddies running amok.

You may notice the ubiquitous 'beads' are back. Maybe I should mix it up a little and buy some new ones.

Snakes and snails and puppy dogs tails......

Isnt that what little boys are made of? Not these boys.

These boys are loads of fun and bundles of energy. 2 of these boys just happen to be my gorgeous nephews and all the others are their cousins so I guess they are part of my extended family too. Thats what Christmas is about after all.

Get those cameras out!! Many many photo ops are on the way. You can never replace a Christmas happy snap. Our kids are only little for such a short time.

Merry Christmas to everyone. I wish you a happy, loving and peaceful 2012.

Enjoy! I know I will xoxo

Last Sunday....

Last Sunday I was tired and it was raining but I hauled myself out of bed for an early morning photo session with this lovely family. By the end of the hour I was in a great mood. Lots of smiles, a beautiful family with 2 happy little girls in their lovely home. There are worse ways to start the day :) xo

I love the light!!

We are very blessed to have such beautiful morning light in Canberra at this time of year, its almost a shame to sleep in (almost!.......I wish).

Freshly manicured for QEII on her visit to OZ, the grounds near the Governor Generals House and the Royal Canberra Golf Club, are beautiful. The perfect place for this 3 year old little girl to run around. And boy, did she run.

As they say, thank heavens for little girls. xx

Beautiful baby boys....love x2

As a mum of two gorgeous girls, I always find it fun and fascinating when there are boys in a portrait session. As obvious as it sounds, they are just........different! Different in a great fun, busy and sometimes challenging kind of way. Now this gorgeous boy has a new baby brother and that is very very special indeed.

Milestones and mixed emotions......

The big-girls-bed has had mixed results but one thing is for certain, they grow up faster than you'd like. I am trying not to wish it away and enjoy my kids while they are young.

I wil leave you with some images of another lovely family that seems to be growing fast and changing everyday. Thanks for asking me into your home Vanessa and Eric. What a wonderful family.

Happy Friday everyone!!

Sensing a theme?.............bbbrrrrrrr....

If there was a way to type the sound of my teeth chattering I would! It is really cold here in our Nations Capital. 4 degrees at 1pm.

Lucky for me I have a centrally heated office, right next to George (as in Clooney........my coffee machine) and these gorgeous pics of some beautiful kids to warm my heart. Schmultzy I know....but its true!

Yep, still loving it people. Have a GREAT Friday and a wonderful weekend.
